1965년 오오사카태생, 츠쿠바대학 제3학군 정보학 졸업후, 소프트 개발회사, CAD판매회사을 거쳐, 97년에 (주)네트워크 응용 통신연구소에 입사, 93년 소프트 개발회사에서 근무할때 “경기가 나빠서 비어 있는 시간”을 이용｢Ruby｣ 개발을 시작, 95년에는 프리소프트로서 공개. 고등학교 시절부터 “언젠가는 자신의 오리지널 프로그램 언어를 만들고 싶다”라는 꿈을 갖고 있던 자타가 공인하는 언어 오타쿠였다.
｢Ruby｣이외에 메일소프트를 개발하고 있으며 본명은松本行弘로 “한자로 표기하면 너무 평범한 일본인의 이름이 되어 버리므로 차별화 하려고 생각해서”가 히라가나로 내세운 이유이다.

The purpose of a natural language, such as English and Japanese, is to describe facts, thoughts, and feelings. Mankind thinks in the language and the particular language determines the way we think. Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto, creator of the Ruby programming language, asks whether programming languages influence human thought as well.
Matz discusses what makes a good programming language. It helps human thoughts, helps you think better, and makes you a better programmer. For example, assembly language is hard for humans, so higher level languages help human expression. He reviews the five quality factors for program language usability. He takes his general discussion of programming languages to show how well Ruby follows the factors and how he used natural language principles to create a useful language.
Yukihiro Matsumoto, a.k.a. Matz is a Japanese computer scientist and free software programmer best known as the chief designer of the Ruby programming language. Born in Osaka prefecture, in western Honshu, he was a self-taught programmer until the end of high school. He graduated with an information science degree from Tsukuba University, where he associated himself with research departments dealing with programming languages and compilers. Matsumoto is the head of the research and development department at the Network Applied Communication Laboratory, an open source systems integrator company in Shimane prefecture.

David Heinemeier Hansson (born 1979) is a Danish programmer and the creator of the popular Ruby on Rails web development framework and the Instiki wikis. He is also a partner at the web-based software development firm 37signals.
In 1999 David founded and built an online gaming news website and community called Daily Rush, which he ran until 2001.
In 2005 he was recognized by Google and O'Reilly with the Hacker of the Year award. He moved from Denmark to Chicago, Illinois in November 2005.
David co-wrote Agile Web Development with Rails, a book on the topic, with Dave Thomas in 2005 as part of The Pragmatic Programmer series.
David appeared on the cover of the July 2006 issue of Linux Journal which included an interview with him in the feature story "Opinions on Opinionated Software." The same month Business 2.0 ranked him 34th among "50 people who matter now."[1]

Ruby on Rails has received a lot of buzz among the web developer community, but many wonder exactly what the fuss is all about. In this high order bit from the 2005 O'Reilly Open Source Convention, developer David Heinemeier Hansson explains the secrets behind the success of Ruby on Rails.
Rails is an integrated stack of web frameworks, but Hansson says that really it's "a bunch of stuff that makes web developers happy." Coupled with the the programming language Ruby, there are three reaons why Rails is a superior tool: convention over configuration, instant change and a complete, integrated and familiar stack.
Hansson also addresses some of the aspects of Ruby that critics claim are faults. He explains how using a more structured framework makes for better applications, since developers are able to focus more on the end product rather than being distracted by the flexibility of the infrastructure.
David Heinemeier Hansson is a programmer and evangelist of Less Software. He's the creator of applications like Instiki, Basecamp, and Ta-da, and works with the open source community and design extraordinaires 37signals. Since its release in late July 2004, he's also been leading the development of Ruby on Rails, a web application framework and environment for building real-world applications with joy and less code than most frameworks spend doing XML sit-ups.
